Water Red River Basin Bibliography

Bureau of Reclamation, no date, Report on Southeast Oklahoma Water Supply Study This Bureau of Reclamation study addressed the maximum economic development of the study area that can be achieved through water resource development. The location of this investigation included the southeast quadrant of Oklahoma which consists of Atoka, Bryan, Carter, Garvin, Johnston, Love, Marshall, and Murray Counties. Preliminary strategies for the optimum development of the water resources of southeast Oklahoma were developed by investigating needs and opportunities for development of municipal and industrial water supply systems, hydroelectric power, navigation, irrigation, flood control, recreation, and environmental enhancement functions. Solutions explored included assessment of natural resources which have potential for development; determination of what existing and potential water supplies are available or needed to facilitate regional development and which supplies might be available for needs outside the area; formulation, analysis, and recommendation of a plan of development which includes identification of how projects or project components could be implemented most expeditiously through private, local, state, or Federal means.
