Direct Assistance Available For Water Resources
In case you haven't heard, there is a group of water resource specialists
providing direct assistance to states. Based on input provided from state level
specialists, state conservationists, conservation partners, and others, the
NWMC serves as a
point of contact when information/assistance is needed regarding water
resources. Functions of the NWMC include: direct assistance, technology
transfer, watershed planning and assessment, water policy interpretation and
development, and interagency coordination.
Recently, the NWMC provided assistance to more than 20 states including the
Pacific Basin and the Caribbean Area.

NRCS in
preliminary planning for a large scale irrigation project

Working closely with the National Water and Climate Center to help
provide irrigation modeling support |
| Assisting the Pacific Basin in addressing impacts of agriculture on a
sole source aquifer in Guam with the use of water quality models |
Providing PL83-566 watershed planning assistance to
Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Hawaii |
| Assisting Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas with streambank
restoration including the development of regionalized curves |
Assisting Alaska with strategies for providing flood plain
management assistance to Native American villages |
| Assisting numerous states in agricultural waste management
technologies. |
Assisting the Caribbean Area and Arkansas with water-related
outreach activities to non-traditional clients |
| Helping Louisiana
NRCS and
others acquire coastal wetland technologies including the
USACE
UNET
model for delta watersheds. |
Assisting Arkansas
NRCS in
assessing declines in ground water levels. |
| Assisting Utah
NRCS and others in assessing watershed-scale changes in
water yields associated with vegetation management. |
Assisting the Caribbean Area with a large-scale wetland restoration
project in Puerto Rico |
